Now that we've covered the process of creating promotions in Poster from scratch, let's take a look at some common examples of the promotions you can build.
Happy hours
Create a 'Happy Hours' promotion to provide your customers with a discount when they make purchases during specific hours:
- Go to Marketing → Promotions in the management console. 
- Click Add. 
- Enter a name and set start/end dates. - 💡 Promotion can last for a month, after which it will become unavailable. 
- Select Locations where the promotion is available. 
- Select Menu items and categories which are available for the promotion. 
- Enter the Quantity of the items required for promotion: Exactly 1. - ☝️ Exactly 1 means that you can get a discount for each ordered menu item as long as you add 1 piece of it to your order. 
- In Stacking logic select Multiple times per order. - 💡 Multiple times per order means that the promotion can be applied repeatedly whenever the ordered items meet the requirements. 
 
 For instance, you can reapply the promotion up to 5 times if 5 items that meet the requirements were ordered.
- Select promotion days and hours: - ☝️ Promotion can be available from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM, throughout the month. 
- In Preferred customers select All customers. 
- In Promotion rewards, set a flat discount, or a discount rate for promotional items. 
- Click Add. 
Buy 3 for $9
Create a 'Buy 3 for $9' promotion to offer your customers a special price when they purchase three items from the same category:
- Go to Marketing → Promotions in the management console. 
- Click Add. 
- Enter a name and set start/end dates. 
- Select Locations where the promotion is available. 
- Select Menu items and categories which are available for the promotion. 
- Enter the Quantity of the items required for promotion: Exactly 3. - ☝️ Exactly 3 means that you receive a special price on 3 items of the same category once you add 3 pieces from that same category. Even adding 4 pieces grants a special price for 3 items only. 
- In Stacking logic select Multiple times per order. - 💡 Multiple times per order means that the promotion can be applied repeatedly whenever the ordered items meet the requirements. 
 
 For instance, you can reapply the promotion each time 3 items of the same category are ordered within one order.
- Select promotion days and hours. - ☝️ Promotion can be available all week from Monday to Friday, between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM, throughout the month. 
- In Preferred customers select All customers. 
- In Promotion rewards, set special prices for promotional items. 
- Set up item special prices to $3 each. 
- Click Add. - Now once a customer orders 3 items from the promotional category, Poster provides a special price for each item, which is $3 making it $9 total. 
5th coffee free
Create a '5th coffee free' promotion to grant an extra coffee cup upon buying 4:
- Go to Marketing → Promotions in the management console. 
- Click Add. 
- Enter a name and set start/end dates. 
- Select Locations where the promotion is available. 
- Select Menu items and categories which are available for the promotion. 
- Now let's enter the Quantity of the items required for the promotion. - ☝️ Exactly 4. So the customer needs to purchase 4 coffee cups to get the 5th for free. 
- In Stacking logic select Stacking menu items in multiple orders. - Stacking menu items in multiple orders helps promotion to track products purchased by customers in previous orders to issue the reward. 
- Select promotion days and hours. 
- In Preferred customers select Registered customers only. - ☝️ Preferred customers can either be registered customers or exclusive customer groups when Stacking menu items in multiple orders is selected. 
- In Promotion rewards, select Reward items as a Reward type. 
- Add required coffee items to Reward items list. 
- In Reward quantity enter 1, or 2 if you provide 2 free coffee cups upon buying 4. 
- In Reward terms select what kind of discount is provided for the 5th coffee cup. - 💡 For example, it can be a Discount rate on reward items or Special prices, or even a Flat discount. 
- Set up a discount or a special price after that. 
- And in Reward issuing terms select when the free coffee cup can be obtained. 
- Click Add.
