Sometimes, system failures can occur due to issues at the data center, such as equipment failures, scheduled maintenance, or even DDoS attacks aimed to overload our systems.

Our developers closely monitor these situations and respond quickly to any incidents that may impact our users. However, it might take some time to restore server operations.

Server malfunctions can catch you in two states:

You have already logged into Poster and are working with the terminal.

If the connection to the Poster servers is lost at your location, the indicator at the top right corner of the Poster app will turn yellow or grey.

🔴 Poster POS has a sync indicator at the top right:

  • Green indicates that POS is synced with the management console.

  • Yellow indicates loading data. POS uploads and downloads data from the cloud.

  • Grey indicates POS is not synced and cannot reach the cloud.

This means that new orders created at the register are not uploaded to the management console or other registers.

What to do if the servers are down?

Keep taking orders, and printing receipts or tickets offline. All data will be synchronized to the management console automatically once the servers are restored.

☝️ Do not clear cache or shut down Poster POS while offline. As Poster keeps offline sales in the app cache, clearing it or closing app results in losing data accumulated offline.

Poster can continue printing receipts even when offline, provided your printer and register device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. However, power outages may disrupt your local network, halting operations of LAN-connected printers.

Upon re-establishing the server connection, verify the status indicator at the top right, which should display green. Then, attempt to close the order.

🖨️ Don’t connect your device to another Wi-Fi network while the servers are down. If thermal printers are connected to a different local network, Poster would not be able to print receipts and tickets offline.

Should the servers remain offline at the end of your workday, you have the option to close the cash shift in Poster offline as well. Alternatively, you can conclude your shift with the cash shift open and close it once connectivity is restored the following day."

You have not yet logged into the register and cannot start working with Poster

If you were offline when our servers went down, there's not much you can do right now, unfortunately. You'll need to wait until the servers are back up before you can log in and start working with Poster again.

Our developers monitor such cases closely and respond quickly to any issues that could affect our users, but it might take some time to restore server operations. Please know our team is working hard to fix the server issue as quickly as possible.
